Extra gas
I've purchased JAZ fuel cells and mounted them on the rear rack of the bike, on the rear seat of the bike, and on the rear rack of the sidecar. All worked just fine with gravity feed fuel systems.

I've been reading links to Tour Tanks, fuel cells, etc. Thanks
I don't want to make this too complicated but I have a few questions.
Why is carrying an extra gas cannister less safe than traveling with a 5 gallon gas tank between my legs?
Isn't it safer to have the gas container full since it's the vapor that's combustible?
Somewhere I saw a photo of a 560 with a small luggage rack mounted on top of the trunk. Don't know why this wouldn't work to hold a 3 gallon container.
I also will have saddle bags (boxes) What about a container inside the bag between the bike and s/c?
Howard
Howard, I also have a 3.5 gal tourtank mounted on my bike, behind my solo saddle, enclosed in a back pack. It is VERY safe there, no more vulnerable than the bike tank between you legs. no problem at all.
safer tham mounting it outside the SC on the back or side.
If you have FI, you will need to install a pump in line to the bike tank. This transfers gas on the road or at a stop. with carbs, all you need is to open the shutoff in the gas line and gas will transfer to the bike tank.
I dont really need the longer distance the gas provides, as my bod needs to stop every 75 miles or so for rests. It is more like insurance, letting me plan my stops when I want to, not when I need gas.
Check out the Kolpin Fuel Pack - designed for ATVs, it's basically an update of the Jerry Can idea with some different mouning and carrying ideas.
Walmart carries some sizes of them.

4.5 gallon Tour Tank
I added a 3 1/2 gal tank, put in-between the car and bike with a elc fuel pump, got mine from http://www.coyote-gear.com they have tanks in a bunch of sizes, they look like the old Hot Rod tanks, spun alum. plus they have all the stuff you need to hook it up at reasonable prices.
