Has anyone ever attended this annual event?

How much old sidecar "stuff" can I expect?

Ditch,

I have never been to the Davenport meet but I do know that it is the largest antique motorcycle meet in the US
you WILL need more than a day to thourghly go thru all the vendors there.

I have been to the Oley Pa. meet and there was a fair amount of motorcycles with sidecar's,sidecars and related items for sale there this year.

Just curious but what kind of old sidecar stuff you looking for?

Oh another thing there is always ATM machines at the meets 🙂

Old sidecar stuff?

I'm mostly looking for old tubs. I have recently acquired an early rocket and an earlier Zep; both 30s era Goulding products. I have one original Goulding chassis but no connection parts.

I will take my empty trailer with me just to insure I spend as much money as possible 😉

Hey Chuck,

I just re-read your message and noticed that you are an officer of USCA.

I retired early, sold my business and went back to college to get a degree in Technical Teaching.

My goal is to open a museum someday dedicated specifically to sidecars/package trucks and the important contributions sidecars made to modern transportation, the Industrial Revolution, and the Modern Movement and their role in the military. It is actually the subject of my Masters thesis.

Ditch,

you picked a favorite topic of mine the earlier years using this type of transportation for family and business deliveries.

as for the Goulding models the "chrome nose" was always my favorite use to be a guy from Ohio that came with a 57 panhead/chrome nose rig it was a pretty sharp looking set up.

I have some original as's from magazines from the HD factory for package trucks if you watch e-bay you can also find original photos and repos of the early teens and on with hd and other sidecar/package truck rigs.
the USCA also had a member from West Va. who had family that delivered I think coal in a package truck Kevin had made a copy and gave me one but as for davenport as I understand it it will take more than a day especially if you are searching for small items.

I hope to put a sidecar on my 30 vl that I am working on..........someday

Keep us posted on the museum progress I would be interested in venturing out there someday

davenport swapmeet is the largest antique swapmeet in the USA! there is no telling what u will find there, but everytime i have ever been there, there has always been some kind of sidecar parts, or even complete hacks, or complete rigs in various states. like someone mentioned earlier, u need more than one day to see everything. call ahead for motel reservations, the town gets FULL.
