Cover for Ural Spare/Trunk Tire?
Does anybody know if somebody makes a cover (maybe just for the tread portion)for the Ural spare that rides on top of the trunk and just gets damaged by the sun's rays?
TIA,

Rich Maund makes the covers, I think. Seems that the ones at the dealerships run in the neighborhood of about 45-65 bucks. Some will discolor, but Rich has addressed that at other sites in the past, I believe. You could probably ask at the IMZ site or even the Wagner's web board and get additional information. Maybe even offer a trade of something to barter with someone. Maybe someone on the sites has a spare they are willing to part with. I know you seem to be addresssing just the ones that only cover the rubber tire and not the ones that cover the complete wheel and tire, but I believe Rich has made them before in that style as well. My local Ural dealership did indeed have such, but I don't know if he still does or not.
Me, I just view them as cosmetic, so I run my Troyka naked............that is, the rig's spare tire runs naked.........nobody would want to see my spare tire naked. 🙂
Good luck on findining what you want.

Rich Maude makes good stuff; IMZ also offers a spare tire cover and Crawford's or Wagner's probably has them.
In sunny Central Orygun, none of the baker's dozen of we Ural riders use 'em, though.

Long time ago I sent my spare tire below the MZ sidecar(summer dirt thread / Winter spikes / and in the trunk a selfmade chain for the back wheel). The spare was allways dirty, but with a cover It would have rusted. As You say just to cover the rubber would be OK.Be kind to your wife and she might make you one out of vinyl and velcro or ruber!Sven Peter
on my Jeepmobile I used to use Army surplus rucksack (ALICE pack) covers that were available for cheap at almost any surplus store. The last time I bought some I got them from Sportsmens Guide (cheaperthandirt) at three for $9.99. Either woodland camo or 1st Gulf War desert camo. Worked well keeping sun off the rubber, cheap, easily replaced.
Was at the local Ural dealership today and checked on price of the tire covers that only cover the rubber. Yes, he did indeed have them. No, there is no way in heck I'd recommend anyone shell out the $63.00 plus tax to own one. Not sure how to convert the square yardage into a dollar amount, but that is just too much money for the amount of material you will get for your buck. I'd be looking at other options, myself.
