Compare Liberty and Motorvation

A friend is interested in buying a sidecar for his Indian Chief.
He is comparing pictures of the Liberty and the Motorvation Spyder models.
A concern is the location of the passenger relative to the wheel and fender.
How would the passenger get into the Motorvation?
Seems the passenger would need to step on the wheel axle and fender.
It also seems that the opening of the Motorvation is smaller than the Liberty.
Akin to a kayak versus a canoe
Am asking for any comments for both makes, pro or con, that might spur and support a decision.
Many thanks.
Jay.

Motorvation has an optional foldable step plate so entry can be made from the bike side of the sidecar. The Spyder seat is quite narrow.
Liberty has a footboard step ahead of the fender (as shown) and the windshield folds forward for easy entry.
More passenger wiggle room with a wider seat and larger cockpit opening.

Hi Jay, (good name)

Last I checked and I may be wrong, Liberty will not sell thier sidecars for anything other then a Harley. Other sidecars to look at are the Champion legend which we are a dealer for, the body on this sidecar is a copy of the Indian princes sidecar. If they need a sidecar that is much easier to get in and out of take a look at our M72C or the M72CX. The CX is the same as the C but 4 inches wider. These sidecars have a step built into the side, the side of the body is cut down and the windshield tips forward out of the way. We will often use these sidecars for people who are transfering out of wheel chairs. The M72 type sidecars also have a large trunk that opens from the out side, seals and locks. Reverse can also be added to the Indian if they do not what to have to push the bike backwards.

I love the looks of the Champion Legend. Wish I could afford one! lol. I also like that they come with an electric lean adjuster like my FSIII. I don't believe the spider or liberty have that as an option

Both our M72C and M72CX have the electric trim as an option. If is also the easiest of all of these sidecars to get in and out of. I do not have photo's of it on an Indian.

All.
Many thanks for your replies and helpful information.
I'll pass it on to my friend.
Jay G....you are right....my friend called Liberty...they frown on coupling their sidecar to an Indian because of maneuverability, bracketry, aesthetics and other issues etc.
Jay.

ok, now I am freaking out. I just ordered a motorvation spyder arrow for my indian. Was Liberty just speaking about their sidecar or on mounting a sidecar on an indian period????

I have a 2003 Indian spirit deluxe and I had a stroke and heart attack in 2009. I love my bike but my boyfriend doesn't want me on 2 wheels anymore because my strength (or lack thereof) and a slight balance problem I have. The sidecar was the coolest and safest option I could come up with.

Hope I didn't make a wrong decision. Any input would be appreciated.

You'll be fine. Just have a raked trriple tree installed for easy steering. You will need it for better control with the sidecar.

Thanks Lonnie. I will definitely look into changing the triple trees. Know already that the beach bars are gone. Need something with not such a reach since now I will actually have to steer the thing. This will be quite the adventure I am sure. Looking forward to it though.
