Shouldn't that just be: Check the VIN?
VIN is an acronym for Vehicle Identification Number.
When you say: VIN number, you are, in effect, saying:
Vehicle Identification Number number
Many people do this. This also happens with the acronym PIN.
This is not to criticize; I just wanted to point out a common error most people make.
