Brakes
I bought a Harley (85 Superglide)with a sidecar. It was set up by the owner who was crippled in a car accident. He removed all the foot work so everything worked by hand. The front brake lever controled the front disc ,rear disc and side car drum. I have put everything back to the usual places and was wondering if I could leave the Front brake and sidecar setup as is or does the sidecar brake absolutely have to run with the rear wheel. As it was , it braked really well ,just too much work for the right hand(brake, throttle, shift)
Sidecar brakes are sometimes linked to the front and sometimes to the rear bike brake. As long as the brake master cylinder has enough capacity to operate the sidecar slave cylinder well I don't see why you can't continue to use this hookup.

Hello all, I have a 99 Goldwing with a Champion Daytona 2+2 s/c this is a really large rig, the disk brake on the s/c is operated by the the front leever. This works very well, the rig stops as a complete unit and does not pull to one side. You will find that you will use the front brake almost exclusively unless you really need more braking power.
Best of luck and ride safe.
