Just sold my 4th sidecar rig, VTX1800/Ural. Sweet ride but as a paraplegic with pain issues I continue to search for what works best for me. I am toying with the idea of buying a BRP Can-Am Spyder but not before next spring. I use a titanium non folding frame lightweight wheelchair that the wheels quick release from. Always been easy to take apart and strap it into the sidecar. I am looking for any ideas on how best to carry a wheelchair non folding or folding on the Spyder? Someone out there may know of someone who has already done this or might just have the perfect idea of how/what/where to fabricate and carry chair. I have a fully equiped engineer/machine shop to do the work. Just looking for ideas, thoughts or contact of someone who has already done it?? Thanks in advance, Gypsy.

DOH! I meant to put this in "post" not "poll".
If a moderator can switch it over, much appreciated.

I carry my Ti Lite rigid on the back of my Road King Custom/TLE rig with a simple rack that could made for a Spyder. I don't post too often and I don't know how to post a picture. Imagine the wheel chair sitting on the pillion seat with casters facing forward. The rack is two CNC machined pieces from 1/4 thick aluminum bolted to each side of the rear fender. at the top they are C shaped cut outs that the main wheelchair axle rests in. I use a back rest that just happens to lock the chair in place when I lean back by trapping the foot plate. I don't even have to strap it down. I wich I could say I designed it that way but, just lucked into it!

Hey kirk. I think I understand the jist of what you're saying. A picture would be great if at anytime you or a friend could wing it. What about turbulance? Do you feel a big difference if the chair is not there? Has your chair got a folding back? Thanks, Gypsy.

Yes my chair has a folding back. I use a small bungee to hold the back in the folded position because at freeway speeds the wind will catch the back and open it up resulting in an unwanted "spoiler". Other than that there are no issues with wind or drag. The wheels on the chair are free to spin which I imagine might look odd especially when stopped at a light. A paraplegic riding a hack whith a wheel chair on the back gets plenty of attention as I'm sure you know.
