if you have a 2004 police king... ill assume its still police paint?

a hd police sidecar can be had on ebay without the mount kit for 2500 to 3000... the police sidecars usually are a bit more worn and often do not have a windshield. but they ride fine and will fit perfect - no messing around.

you would need to budget for a new connection kit - 950 bux and a manual - 30 bux - and a raked tree. 850 bux... its not cheap but it will last 20+ years if you take care of it.

many will say dont spend the money on the tree but if you are like me and have a bum ankle or some such you will never ride it solo so just get the tree, then you can ride with two fingers on the bar and its fine - with a stock tree it can be lots of arm effort.

one good thing about the police bikes is that they almost all have larger displacement than the civilian bikes and often have some other hop ups.. if you take a stone stock police hd and a stone stock civilian bike and dyno them you will find that the police bike has more power... be careful what you change on a police bike as you might accidentally lower the power by removing one of there trick special parts.. up to this last year police bikes were all made on a separate line.

another item on a 2004 is that it *might* not have the high load belt for sidecar use on it - as a king police bike it came with it but if it was replaced it might have the one that looks the same but isnt.

Harley changed to a narrower rear belt in 2004 (1-1/4", IIRC). One might be able to locate the heavy duty rear belt for an earlier bike but they don't make them for later bikes. The later belt is supposedly much stronger.

...I'm looking at a used California car tomorrow, might be the one to get me back on the road, we'll see. I will just need to find someone to install it. There is a guy in Noonan Ga that does sidecar installs and he says he can't quote me a price til he see's the system. makes sense to me.
...

So what happened?

I got a buddy that sometimes sez "Sua Sponte" 😉 did you get the rig?
