Well,,,,I flew to Virginia and picked up rig and drove it to Washington State, Hack'n wasn't kidding when carry extra gas and be sure to get one that **doesn't** leak, BTDT and it sucks, once you get off the main highways gas stations are few and far in between, your going to have to learn to steer with the throttle, on to the right and off to the left because the hills of Virginia that I was on have big off camber turns and can pucker your hind side, I didn't really know how to drive a rig when I left but I had a darn good idea how by the time I got home 2900 miles later, one thing you have to get used to is the fact that the car is there, you don't pass or go around anything like you did on your bike, O,,,and one other thing, try to remember not to put your foot down at stop lights 🙂

Take your time, if you feel uncomfortable in a traffic situation pull over and let it pass, once you get used to driving your sidecar rig your gonna love it, you can set back and relax, just be sure to plan your corners, gas to the right and no gas to the left in moderation of course, it won't take long to get used to doing it and remember turn right to go right, like your in a car.

Good luck and enjoy your trip, it's going to be different but enjoyable.

All of us"hackers" are nuts or so I am told. You have the same rig as I do . 01 Roadstar with the Champion Daytona 2&2.I did the same thing only for a shorter distance. I have been riding since 1965 all solo or two up, no sidecar. I was a little aprehensive but soon found that it was no where near as I thought it would be.I followed my wife in a Hitop conversion van and stayed back out of its wake. I hit a swarm of some kind of bugs, a little rain and a quartering wind -found out later it was 20 mph and gusts to 30-from the left front. Rig was stable and I had a ball. The rig is wide enough that the dreaded right handers were no problem. I hope you find the ride as much fun as I did. I should have done this years ago

You can't possibly know how often we hear that exact phrase. In time you'll laugh each time you hear it. My good friend Gust Jensen likes to say that one sidecar is unusual, two sidecars are a parade, and three sidecars are a Circus. Welcome to the Circus. :0)

I am so happy with my Sporty and Cozy, I have been called mostly everything...but after riding through the winter, and now spring not missing a beat...2 wheelers are more interested 'cause they see me enjoying ...errands...food shop kid shuttle yes with all the LAX gear plus HS backpack and son...not to forget the fun loving carefree rides with my Border Collie Nikita! Of course all dolled up in Doggles and leather!
I am having a good time doing all this plus more and saving some money..with these prices that are still climbing presently $3.78/gal!
The shop where I had the car mounted are getting calls scoping out where to have their future cars mounted. If anything, in my neck of the woods I am showing that fill 'er up @$7...is not crazy, but my MDX @ $65 is insanity...

Happy safe riding with that shiney side up! Liz
PS TurtleZ let us know how you made out getting her home.
