Alaska
Perhaps the primary reason we purchased the Goldwing/Hannigan rig was to enable some longer trips.
So, on Wednesday, Connie and I leave for Alaska on the rig. Driving from Los Angeles as far north as Coldfeet, Alaska. It is in the Artic Cirlce, about 200 miles south of Pruhoe Bay. Will go through Hyder,Denali, Soldotna and Homer, as well as Fairbanks and Anchorage before we head home,
Weare taking the ferry from Whittier, stopping at Juneau, Ketchinka, and a couple other sea ports on the way bsck to Bellingham.
Then Route 101/1 back down the coast to LA. We plan on about 5 weeks, back the end of August.
We are really enthused, the rig is what has made this type trip possible (Connie has Fibromyalgia, so cannot do this on a 2 wheeler).

Wow! That is totally cool! Take lots of pictures and notes - surely this will be a page turner article for The Sidecarist.
I used to live in some of those places - before Alaska was even a State. Geepers, I am old.
Have a great and safe trip - take mosquito repellant! :-0
Let us know when you are back.

Oustanding! Have a great trip. Pictures and your story would be a real plus for USCA members if you've a mind to.
Greg and Connie,
Have a great trip and a great adventure. Sure would be neat to see photos in the new improved color Sidecarist along with your story! I spent time on Kodiak Island in the 60's and always intended to make it back. Haven't yet.
We will definitely take/post pics, plus story. Among the jillion neat things about sidecars is that Connie can take cool pics while we are driving.
Doing the last minute stuff today. Decided to change the rear tire, put a Dunlop 195x55x16 sp3000 on it. I think the existing tire would have made it, but decided not to chance it.
Just received my Aerostitch Darien Light jacket. I made the mistake of checking the extended weather forcast for Alaska (lol). Looks like I will be able to verify whether it is "all day" waterproof. Thank goodness the SC has a roof and side curtains.
Well, we made it to Canada so far. About 1700 miles. We drove up the 101 coast rout from LA to Seattle, the wether was nearly perfect along the coast (high 60s-low 70s). Crossed the border yesterday, then rode the Sea to Sky highway to Whistler. Whistler Village is really a cool area, there were thousands of mountain bikes using the ski lifts...The village reminds me of Vail in a way (although I haven't been to Vail in 20years)
Rode highway 99 from Whistler to Cache Creek today, only 140 miles but extraordinary beauty, sort of reminded me of the Alps.
So far, all is well, Connie, myself and the Wing all funtioning well.
Tomorrow we go 450 miles to Prince George, then to Hyder, Alaska (the very most southern sliver of Alaska, used often by the iron butt riders).
regards, Greg and Connie
