Advice for the New Guy....
Hey eveyone,
Well my situation is My wife and I love riding together, but she is afraid of the bikes we normally own. We just got rid of our last Crotch rocket, due to the fact that she is so small, she gets pulled off the bike when we are going down the road. And I know that means I should be going so fast but that's what they are made for. Anyway I love WWII bikes, and I have found the New 2006 URAL "GEAR-UP 2WD" and I'm in love... She hasn't seen it yet,and before we think about it I wanted to ask the people with EXPERIENCE "Is this a good bike, any problems with it, and is $11,000 for it New in the crate Fair?"
Thanx so much for any help you can provide.
Welcom back to the bike world! Sc's are the way to go!!
Sharp looking bike, but if your going to d oa lot of highway cruising, forget it. not a long distance rig.
side roads are great.
A Ural is an excellent bike if you are content to max cruise at 55 mph or want to go exploring across country.
For hi-way crusing with a passanger in the sidecar you need bike that has at least 65 to 100 hp capability - not that you will be using this much.
For $11000 you should be able to find an excellent combination that will be able to cruise at hiway speeds - 70 to 80 mph, not 55.

Well you can't get much more polar opposites than going from sportbikes to a Ural!
They are great bikes (but of course I'm biased)! If you don't plan to go off-road or ride in snow, I'd recommend saving bucks and going for a 1WD model. Less expensive and you might decide to try it solo.
If you haven't already, see: http://imzwa.secureforum.com/login for the Ural forum.
Let us know what you decide!
The Urals owners I've met would tell you how great they are for everything. ? try www.russianiron.com
Thanx everyone for the advice, I think this is the way to go. Besides, I don't care what I ride just about any bike will do, it's just finding a bike that we both can enjoy.
