Thanks jimwing08 for your reply and your right on point as I've been awaiting a bi-lateral hip replacement and it seems to be taking a bit longer than would be expected,so I have decided to go all out on the triple tree set-up and just be happy with it..At least I know my pups will be ridin along and that should make it all worth the effort!! Thanks wingman!!

Don ----- There are several reverse gear kits availale. I used the Mamba kit because it has a shear pin that will break if you engage both reverse and a forward gear and try to take off -- and it is easy to engage both gears. If it does happen, it will cost you $5 for the pin and whatever to remove the case to replace the pin AND the transmission will remain functional. Cost is alittle higher than most, install is less than several kits -- took my shop and me 3.5 hours to install and that included removing and replacing the car and lunch.

Good luck on the hip replacements --- I had my first unit in 1984 -- it got loose in 1992 and was replaced --- and I still have it..

AIM (Mamba) reverse uses two 1/4" brass shear keys that will allow the reverse gear to spin free if sheared without any damage to the gearbox. You will just be without a reverse gear until the keys are replaced. Installation requires no modifications of shafts or other components as with some other Harley reverse units and gears are securely bolted in place, no glue on gears.

I was wondering if it makes dollars and sense to have the triple tree's on my bike replaced to alter its steering charactoristics?? The bike is a 98 flhtcui ultra. :O

Yes! Best investment in my opinion.
Read all the threads and you'll see, no one went back to stock after having them installed 🙂

Hi Don,
Ditto what others have said. Mine is a '96 FLH with a Liberty sidecar and Liberty trees. I love it but I know without the trees, I'd have gone back to two wheels a long time ago and left the pup at home. Petey is my third sidecar sidekick now. What part of WA are you in? I'm over here just west of Spokane. Maybe we can link up for a cup one day. Also I just saw that the Bigfoot sidecar club rally is just north of Bonners Ferry Idaho in July. I'm thinkin' that's a must this year. Just have to find where I hid my passport and what it will take for Petey to cross the boundary...

I will be getting raked tress for my 02 ultra when funds permit. ON the old FLH 4 speed rigs came with adjustable trees.

There sure are a lot of modifications that can be done to make riding with a sidecar easier...I'm going to wait as well and see how things go next spring before I go parts shopping.

I agree 83fljohn Im not totaly dedicated to all mods available until I get a chance to try my current set-up. My next issue is dealing with car/bike tires.. I'll see how she handles first and go from there.. Again my dealer doesn't think that with my particular set-up,that this is nesessary. We'll see when I get a chance to ride it out and we shall see where it takes us from there.

I don't know , Pardner.
I prefer being an old geezer to the only other alternative.

Any day I'm on my hind legs and have the key to the door is a good one for me.

High Tom,im way over here on the west side of the cascades in the small fishing community of westport wa,near aberdeen and look forward to my first road trip. Canada sounds like a good starting point to begin the grand tour. Thanks for the contact and lets be sure to stay in touch.. My bike and sidecar are ready and its had a full service as of yesterday. Ready for my maiden voyage and hope the pups take to it like im sure they will.
