Hi Guys,

I hope all of you will enjoy them.

PS: The Organizer of this event (The German Magazine "Motorrad-Gespanne) have counted 1600 Sidecarists from all over Europe!

The side car rider with the longest journey came from UK, Spain, Finland and Norway.

My neck begins to shiver, all hair stands up.
These photos not only made me yealous, but refreshed long lost memories.
Funny that no MZ is visible. to my times you found them on every meeting.
Renng kleng kleng, beside the Jawa the only adult 2 stroker....

Remember a König 3 cylinder 2 stroker. Infernal noise and smoke burning tire.

But the best tone is still the Nortone!
Best regards
Sven

Thanks for the pic's. I sat down with the intention of only spending a few minutes before starting my day. As soon as I click on your pic link, that plan fell apart. I really enjoyed it, thank you.

Awesome ugly, specially when you paint it with bitumen, wax or hammer finish paint as I did, awesome twisty (every 6 month I had to bend all parts back into position, awesome load capability (3 boxes beer, 1 50liter barril. and 2 boxes of wine plus meet ans sausages), awfull bad electrical system, incredible high consume. motorway 105km/h 11 liter/100km. BUT at -28ºC running on the third kick, or after sinking it in a river starting on second kick and spitting out all the water....
But the cheapest I were able to buy as Student....(4200 German marks brand new= 2.545,-US$), after the Austin Nini threw off its right front wheel.
By the way that accident gave me the intiution to get the sidecar.

But brand new from East Germany was not at all what you expect. saturday 13.12.1986: first corner, first flasher fuse, second corner second fuse.=>forget about it, use arm signs like before with the NSU Supermax.
Way home on 140km in 3 bends straight into the pasture...
Next day a road side plock...
24.dec. rewire the electric system in a water proof cable box.
25.dec.86 "Aunt, please throw the coin where to go....", Elisabeth didn't like me, so I visited Gustaf Adolf => Norway
500km/day riding the motorized sleigh...and 5 hot meals/day.

Reng kleng kleng, awesome unique sound.
Awesome MZ that recalls so many stories.

Thank you for the link to the photos.

Sven,

I like reading all of your postings more and more. They are always extremely exhilarant and impressive. Your comments substantiate furthermore a highly technical knowledge and I recognized that you mentioned very emotional a good many times your memories about your time here in Germany. It must have been a very good time !

Well, however I found some goodies for you regarding König ( the 2 dots above the o are very important) and Jawa Motorcycles:

Sigi,
thanks a lot for the photos. (in my village a 43 year old 350 Jawa still runs well, all diference you see is that the old model is rounder and has no oil pump)
Most of all thank you for correcting me. So the König is a 4 cylinder. with the noise that sidecar racer did it was impossible to determine how many cylinders it had.

3 cylinder 2stroker I tried once the 550 Kawa MACH III. On 12km in 3 bends right in the center of the bend the engine passed 5500revs and the back drifted hopeless.
To top off I met a "Dachs" (over 60 kg badger) crossing the road at Mechower See (border to East Germany. Ostzone)
I handed the bike back with slottering knees and hands.
Best regards.
Sven
