1929 Sidecar board track racing
GNM ,
What the article said is 12 are known to remain how many they made is anybody's guess records were not a real high priority back then.
Oh.......at $520,000 it's not "worth" that to me maybe Jay leno?
Just got this from a fellow member of the Antique motorcycle club I belong to
I am still thinking a flexi would suit that bike to!

In 1973 this beauty was for sale for $3500. Restored from a racer back to a road bike by the original guys who built it! ! How's that for a change? Left to right Roy Egberg, Andrew Strand, Paul Paladi. Could this bike now belong to Lane Plotner? I think Lane's bike came from Harrahs and $3500 was big bucks for an old bike in 1973.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm almost certain that this was the Cyclone taht was formerly owned by Bill Harragh. After his death. the y began selling the collection off in a series of sales. The remainder of his collection is in a small museum in downtown Reno./ I haven't been to that one bercause they want something like $12 to get in and I've seen it all nmerous times before.
That is a very rare bike, for sure but $500K +? I don't think so.

Hey guys,
Newbie here. I came across this old thread looking at Cyclone stuff. This bike in the photo was Bob Lyon's street bike turned racer turned street bike. The last restoration was done in the late 60's. Paul DeLadi, the black haired gent was a mechanic for the town of Minneapolis who also raced and worked as a motorcycle mechanic for Egberg's shop. My Grandfather was the draftsman who worked for Andy Strand (middle) during the original Cyclone effort, then after WW1 went into other businesses with Strand. He assisted the restoration team on that specific bike in the 60s with technical advice and drawings. Some of the road parts had to be fabricated from scratch. (The verticle leaf spring is from a car for example, according to Deladi's son who remembers hanging around the shop as a kid during that job)
The Bike now resides with the Lattin family of California who also has Don John's original racer, the Mona Lisa of motorcycles.
Some serial number studies and accounts suggest that around 300 Cyclones were built, some camps hold to far less, maybe 1/2 of that number.
I agree with the 12 know to remain today.
Sorry to introduce myself in this manner, but I found this thread very cool and thought someone might like the little back story here, plus a few more Cyclone shots:
Thanks, Bill
