Anybody here have a 1600 Nomad with a sidecar? I've been giving some thought to adding one and wondered how it would look, ride, mount, do the mounts get in the way of a pasenger on the bike, and any other related info.......?

Hi Nomad! When I saw your name I knew I had to respond. I own a black 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600. I have gotten to the point in my life that I want a sidecar on my "Nad". I have ordered a new Motorvation Formula II sidecar and am supposed to get it in May 2013. I have no firsthand knowledge with a sidecar, but I have studied about them and feel I can learn to ride safely. It is supposed to be a completely different way to ride. I have no doubts about my Nomad. Motorvation advised that I will be able to use my hardbag on the side where the sidecar will be attached. I looked at how Motorvation will attach my sidecar to my Nomad and it looks first class to me. They are located in Sibley, IA, about 3 hrs from where I reside.

I am a long time member of the Vulcan Bagger Association and you can see some of my postings under the "North Central Area" under the name BiscuitNGravy. Also on the VBA just search for "sidecar" and you can see posts about the Nomad with sidecars. Good luck!

We have mounted many sidecars to these bikes. Our mounts do not get in the way of the passenger who really should be in the sidecar not on the back of the bike. Our most popular sidecar for your bike is our M72C or the wider M72CX. These come with bike specific NOT univeral mounting hardware. Some companies will use a bunch of "universal" type clamps which if not used correctly will tend to slip. For your bike we also offer new from billet triple tree's that will change the angle of the forks making for lighter steering with the sidecar.

Spent the weekend looking at the 1600/1700 nomad for our new rig! Looks like it should be a good tug! We currently ride a HD 1200 sportster with a CSM 72 sidecar! I believe this will be an upgrade! Take your time learning how to ride the rigs, they are a VERY different animal, take a class if you can get to one!

Welcome to the club!

The last bike I had was a sporty it was my get back to riding after 30 years away ride. When the wife said we need a bike big enough for both of us to ride the Nomad was the best fit and still is. The 1600 Nomad had a 3 inch longer wheel base than the Road King and those sexy lines. The 1700 is a little less roomy but has a 6 speed.

We put the sportster rig together after having a ural, first bike for 25 years! Wife doesn't like two up so I showed her the Ural.... We love the sidecar!!!!! Like the sportster for the small set-up and old look (long story) But I believe we are working it to hard and I went to upgrade before we hurt it!
