Security concern with new server and software

I'm a computer technician and run a server at my home for other techs. With the new software I notice that under our names with the other information we provide the forum software is now showing our IP address. I have enough problems with security of my internal network with out some forum making my Private IP public information for others to use to try and hack my network.

If I don't have the right to disable this feature in my profile settings then I will leave this forum. This is major security snafu that needs correcting.

Since Administrators will always see the IP addresses, I can't tell if this is different than the old forum. Maybe something to reset in forum setup but I can't find it. We will look at it.

Joyce, that feature wasn't available for viewing by any of the members or guest with the old software. I logged out of the forums and still could see it as a guest, which means any one or even the bot spiders that crawl the internet will pick it up. It's also click-able and takes you to a log in page you have to have admin rights to. This type of information should only be view-able by admins only, not even the mods of the forum should be able to see it.

It's fixed. Actually all the old forums had the flag to show ip's turned on. If they weren't showing in the old software it was either broken or someone modified every page to remove the address.

Good catch Bagmaster.

Great!!! much better!!! I didn't want to step on anyone's toes, being a new member, but feel so strongly about net security that I had to point it out and see if it could be fixed as soon as possible.
