Ural Leaking Oil?
Hello,
My question is for Ural owners. In general, have you found your rig leaks oil, appreciably more so than other bikes you've had? Just wondering. I haven't really experienced this, but I was told that it would not be uncommon for a Ural to leak a teaspoon a day. That seems like an incredible statement to me, so I just wondered what others had encountered.
Also, any chimes in on maintenance/repairs or preventative maintenance that I might find useful would be appreciated. More than the usual oil changes, etc. that is...
Thanks!

Hi Karla,
Have you asked over on the Ural web board? www.imz-ural then click the community tab then web board. Ooorrr... http://imzwa.secureforum.com/
You'll find lots of answers and help for all things Ural there. Good folks. Not that you won't find the same here and a lot of the same people...
Good luck!
Ural has reportedly fixed the oil leak problems by upgrading the bolts holding various covers on the engine. They have also in recent years upgraded the brakes and added electronic ignition and Italian (Ducati?} charging system. These improvements may make all the bad publicity about Ural reliabilty invalid for newer models.
You might try www.russianiron.com as well. Mostly Urals.
I have a new Retro, 2,000 miles. Doesn't leak at all (both Harley's do though)
