toneau cover

i need a cover on my sidecar asap. going to Rusk saturday i will possibly get rained on. too late for this trip but there will be another soon ( i am loving the hack and going as much as possible.)
i have a big piece of material, naugahide or something, very tough, like for upholstry. what i don't have is a lot of money, so i'd like to do this myself. i assume a parts house might have the snaps or other type connectors that will work on the fiberglass tub, and i have some big needles .
any help with tips about the procedure would be appreciated. thanks
