I have a 1978 R100S BMW and have gotten a Velorex 700 ,1985 I think. The installation instructions Section A "note: for BMW models a special mount bracket may be needed". I have all of the Attachment Kit. I have read that in '77 or '78 BMW made the frame tubing thicker and more durable. So, my question.....do I 'need' the special bracket or can I mount the car with the standard hardware? If I 'need' the special bracket , why? What does it look like? And where is it attached? Help will be appreciated, pictures will be treasured, explanations adored. Jon in Mobile

Jon,
yes, you will need the 'spcial' bracket...called a Subframe.
It goes under the engine to the footpag area, then up to just below the seat, and continues back a short ways . It bolts and clamps to your engine mount bolts and original frame , reinforcing it.
The 78 R100S needs this.

Thanks, Bob. That is a well of info. Do you weld up your own subframe or is there a used subframe source or do you have to buy one? I am confident in my metal work, but I am still kinda dumb on the preciseness of the bracketry mount locations. Is there such a thing as a " lay out plan" or construction diagram to build this subframe? Jon in Mobile
