sidecar for quadrapaligic
hello my name is jeffrey bise i am a c4 quad since 2009 and have just got use of my arms i'm looking for a sidecar kit for my 2006 kingpin i've seen a couple of handicap sidecars on you tube does anyone know if there is a kit out there i want to operate the bike from the sidecar everone tells me i'm crazy and should be thankful i'm alive but i've been riding for 38 years and i'll be damned if this bump in the road of life is going to stop me thank you in advance for any help that i can get from this site thank you jeff bise
Ever thought about maybe switching to a bike with an automatic transmission? Sure would make it a lot easier on you... would just have to worry about steering and braking. The Suzuki Bergmann style super scooters (for example) spring to mind, or that weird & wacky Honda DN-01 (which I like a lot BTW). Guys have hung sidecars on these successfully, and they're fairly powerful, and not so little bikes.

I'd have to agree that a Victory Kingpin might not be the first choice for a wheelie sidecar rig, but what do I know?
There is a newly formed website for wheelies (wheelchair bikers) out of Australia, and it might be worth a look-see. www.3wheels.org
There's also an incredible para sidecar guy in Florida (Neptune03) who has a high-performance Hayabusa rig and has also built his own HP dirt-capable sidecaroutfit. link to build thread link to test ride vid
Here's a pic of a sidecar attached to a Yamaha T-Max scooter (Australia left-side deal) where the bike is controlled from the chair--
And here's the link to his build thread--clicky .
Here's one attached to a naked Goldwing, so you know it can be done if you got the cash--
Keep in mind that you're gonna need some kind of reverse gear, and some way to haul your sorry ass in and out of the saddle, unless you try to build something like the Goldwing thing.
Good luck, man. Gonna take a while, but if you can make it happen, it'll be awesome.

I don't think that's a Goldwing. That looks like Rumpstun's Valkyrie.

I don't know much about cruisers. Saw the pic on a Goldwing forum so naturally and incorrectly figgered it was a stripped down Wing. In any event, that's a little closer to the OP's intended tug so there are people who are doing it. If you can put OP into touch with this Rumpstun guy, maybe he can give him some advice.
whatever it is,,,, I would love to have it. That would be just "too cool" to drive from the car while a passenger sat helplessly on the bike! Come thru ohio when you get one built and give me a ride.

Rumpstun is a member here, but I believe he's from Hawaii. Jay from Dauntless or Claude from Freedon Sidecar should check in soon. Both have been known to build outfits like you are after.
Rump's was a factory built sidecar, but I believe they are out of business.
Here's a forum with a bunch of photos for ideas. http://www.apparelyzed.com/forums/topic/5576-drive-from-wheelchair-sidecar/
Scroll to page 5 here for an article about one as well. http://www.spinal.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/imprint_200711.pdf
I don't have the specific link to their website, but you may look at the Pashnit site for their specific section about handicapped hacks there. They link to several builders for handicap conversions. They may show something that sparks an idea or such for you. Good luck with the information.

Hey, Jeff, there's a Harley wheelchair build for sale in California.

Hey Jefrey,
I like your attitude. Go on and enjoy every moment that is left on this side of the Hades river.
Myself I had to hop on the bike's (solo and rig) and lift sometimes the right, sometimes the left arm to the handle bar for several years...(8 years I didn't know what is a day without pain)
Had a buddy who passed the right handles to the left side of the bar because there was not any muskle left in his right arm after he kissed a truck. So he sew 2 push buttons in his glove and lets go!
As kid I remember several WW2 veterans ride their rigs from the sidecar. (or 3 wheeler)
All what matters is the attitude!
