I am running a 1979 KZ1000ST, Shaft (E1) with a Friendship California II sidecar. Right now there is a 150/70 17 rear tire on the bike. When replacement time comes (not too far away) I would like to put an automobile tire on the back for longer tire life. Has anyone done this? What size would fit? It doesn't look like there is very much clearance now and the smallest car tires I see are either 210 or maybe one 195 width. Thanks for any help advise, etc. Any bike tire that has looong life? :O

I know of none that will work, If you can change to a 16 inch wheel from another bike there are a few more options. Heidenau tires is some what new to the USA, I spoke with their general manager a couple of weeks ago and he told me of some really good options they have in the 16 inch size. I was asking about tires for Harley's which run a 130 16. They not only offer automotive tires but they also has sidecar tires is sizes I have not seen before. www.heidenautires.com

Here is a link to a database of car tires people have put on their bikes. I see some 15" rims on the list so maybe it will help
