Hello,
I just failed my roadworthy certification over here in Germany the TUEV test.
On account of poor braking performance on the sidecar brake.
I have a '95 drum original HD (TLE ??) on my bike.
What I did:
- pumped out a bit of brake fluid in case there was air in the system
- adjusted the excenter nuts on the drum
Now the boys have a point, the braking performance used to be better back in 2000 when I got the sidecar.
It actually helped getting around right hand corners and the bike's rear did not block as quickly when breaking with the foot.
- The engineer advised to sand down the brake pads.
This I did, there is more than enough brake liner on the pads, so that seems OK
Now I realized that I NEVER topped up let alone changed the rear brake fluid.
I could not find any reservoir container underneath all that grime.
The old Sportster had one sitting next to the foot pedal. Where on earth do the Touring models have it?
Thanks for the advice
Regards
Bernt

Not to be or sound like a SA just follow the hose from the brake, it won't be far from the master cylinder.

its between the frame, just below the upper mount & the lid is between the cyl and the frame

dead difficult to get too - the level glass points directly at the cyl and is about 7/8" away - you have to use a mirror to look at it.

the newest [07] is in the same place but on the front side of the frame..

part of the sidecar mounting kit is the whole arrangement to locate the larger remote resevour - it holds about twice as much fluid.
