Hi -

I came across this frame, someone said it is an old HD frame. Is this correct? What years?

Also, looks like it has been cut at the front (see my black lines that I inserted). Have I drawn those lines correctly? Going to do a repair, and I am wondering if I have interpreted where the frame was cut (if anybody has a photo of the full frame like this, please post).

Also, anyone know where I can get a manual for this vintage?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

Hello.

The frame is a Harley-Davidson but is not current for sure. It is rather early, before the FL Knucklehead and UL flathead era (1936 on) If I had to guess, I would say it's a VL (1930's) I don't think it's from the J, JD era, (1920's).

It appears to have had the front portion removed as is shown on the PDF, probably for use on some other brand of bike. It also looks to be in terrible, what I refer to as "out in back of the barn" condition. If I were you I owuld forgo any attempt to use it as it obviously rotted inside and out.

You can find the occasional parts book and service manual for VL bikes on eBay. I have seen several in the past month as I'm always looking for Harley sidecar items.

Goos luck.

Thanks a lot, that's very helpful information. I'm thinking to use it as a template to make a new frame to take a tub of that era... so your information is very helpful. Dave
