I know someone selling a '58 R69. He says he took a sidecar off of it...
Might anyone know what gearing I should look for to pull a SC?

33/11 suite's me fine. I also have a 32/11 which is'nt as good in mid-range. With the 33/11, I loose out on top speed (which I'm not bothered about on the outfit), but gain in the low and mid-range (which is more important to me).

Karl- you got me. How did you get 15 inchers on a pre '70 BMW? Second, when non-stock gearing was installed, was the case re-stamped? 3rd, was this something you did, or did you have it done? I understnad that changing gearing is a black art that no one wants to try because of the time it takes (not to mention the cost of the parts).

uncle ernie- sorry, I think I mis-understood what you were meaning.I adapted the gearing at the bevel box and not the gearbox. As you say it can be done in the gearbox but it's very expensive and time consumeing.
I dont see why 15" wheel's can't be put into a pre 70's frame, infact I use to know a bloke who had "em in his /2 outfit.I have the original BMW Earl's fork's on mine that I have adapted to a /7 frame with 15" wheel's and floating AP Lockheed caliper's. The disc's are Norton/Triumph.

I used to know this stuff chapter and verse but I have been away from /2's for too long. Go to the Yahoo /2 Conversion group and ask the same question. Your rig may not be a conversion but it doesn't matter. What does matter is many conversionists are also sidecarists and the "sidecar rear drive" is a hotly desired item.

Sarge- you're telling me. That's one reason I put an R100 engine in mine; no need for SC gearing anymore. Lots of parts are going back to Germany again.
