I tried to adjust my lean angle. I have a ST1100 with a Hannigan. I am not certain I moved the front and rear tie rod in the same amount. What can I expect if they have not been moved in (closer) the same amount. This is the tie rods that go from the top of the bike to bottom of the hack. I do not know how critical this adjustment is other than it affects the lean angle. What if the front is taken in more than the rear. Does 1/2 inch affect it. Thanks John

best thing to do is unbolt one at the top and adjust the other one, then re-attach the loose one.
otherwise, move both struts the same amount while they are both attached.
Turn one out slightly, then the other, making a mark where you started.
there shound be NO strain on any of the attachments where they bolt to the bike.

From my limited experience: A half inch should affect your lean by several degrees, or significantly. In tuning my car for ridability and best tire wear (8,000 to 9,000 rear, a little more on front and car) I've become a fan of more toe-in and less lean-out in hitting the sweet spot. A difference in the adjustment length of your vertical struts could put them or car/bike frame in a bind or under stress. To check, pull the upper pin (bolt) on one and see if it easily lines back up for reinstallation. Hope this is of help...Danny
