Anybody know how to take the hesitation out of a 1977 GL1000 from idle, the carbs have been rebuilt following all procedures and i still get a hesitation when i crack the throttle. throttle shafts were sealed with new o-rings everything was done according to the book.
Thank You
Mike

A hesitation could also be a timing advance problem. I cut this from http://www.randakks.com/ He is more eloquent than I

use a vacuum pump with gauge to test your vacuum advance diaphragm on your pulse generator assembly. Remove the rubber vacuum hose from the vacuum port at the #3 carburetor bowl and connect it to the vacuum pump. If the gauge indicates a leakdown, make a plug from a golf tee and a piece of hose or other suitable material and plug the vacuum port on the carburetor bowl. Replacement pulse generator assemblies and vacuum advance diaphragms are no longer available from Honda, and the slight loss of vacuum advance will not be noticeable.

Other things to consider would be to get rid of the Points and install Electronic Ignition once you have tested out the Advance mech and it's proper operation.

One thing I found with the various manuals on the 1000's was that the Aftermarket ones had two of the jets reversed in the carbs. Those jets are the same size but have different size holes and # on them so if you followed those aftermarket Manuals it is easy to install them bas-akwards. Also if you followed those faulty manuals all kinds of odd things happened with the CV carbs from 75 to 79. The only Manual that showed the correct jet positions was the Official Honda Manual. If you would like to check out the proper jet locations ask a good Honda shop to let you look at their manual if you don't have one.
