I put an earles fork on my 73 LWB /5 with no problems.
the earles I bought came from a 56 BMW.It slipped right up into the new set of stock bearings I put into the/5 head.
I have been told the earles head stem nust have been modified, but I can find no evidence of that.
My BMW guy also says he has bearings to convert the Earles shaft to the /5 herd, but I didnt need them. the bearings have larger diameter inside to fit on the larger earles stem.
about the wheel...I also used my stock /5 wheel, axle, and hub, but I needed to make a pair of brass bushing inserts to go into the larger axle holes the earles had.
these bushings can be made by your local machine shop if you cant do them. My son made mine.
make sure the bushings have a slot cut in them with a hacksaw, so they can be pinched tight with the pinch bolts securing the axle.
this was easier and cheaper to do than finding an expensive, nice condition /2 wheel, hub, axle, and tire.

I also put an original /2 earles fender and stainless repro brace, on it. the fender and brace is made for the Earles 18" wheel but fit the stock /5 19" fine.
My original /5 brake cable was also used.
you will need to file a small part of the /5 hub to slip into the groove by the Earles axle hole. this is suppesed to hold the /2 hup in place when braking, but is not strong enough . you will need to weld on a small tab onto the right rear of the earles swingarm , to attach the original /5 brake stay coming from the /5 hub.

after I got the bushings it took me one day to install the earles.
the top plate from the earles was also used, but I had to lose the damper, as the stem was solid..no place for the damper rod to go thru.
I also have about 1" of clearance between the rear of the Earles and the front engine cover. No mods neede here at all, either.

Thanks for a fast answer. You are the man.
What would be a fair price for a /2 earles fork.
Found on in the penny saver but it was offers
under price.I would love a deal and dont want to pay too much.
It looks to be in fair to good condition in the photo.

I dont know the current prices for them now. I bought mine 4 years ago from a friend for $350. plus i bought a pair of original earles shocks on Ebay for $70. the fender I bought from another friend for $70. the brace came from Blue Moon, cost around $40.
I would think a good used earles now would be around $600.
plus the fender and other stuff.
I sold the bike last summer..Bummer! man do I miss it!
