I have a 76 cb 750 hondamatic and was told this would be a good bike to mount a sidecar to. Is there any truth to this. Should i go to a manufacture and get an answer also?

I've seen cb750As with hacks for sale before. As long as you pick a sidecar that's appropriate for the bike weight wise and the bike is in good shape it should work.

For some reason Moto-Guzzi automatics seem to end up with sidecars on them too.

We make bike specific mounts for the CB750A (the mounts are different then the CB750 mounts) they work out ok as sidecar bikes, a bit lacking on power for highway use if you have a head wind however we had a friend with a CB750A with a very heavy home made sidecar, they toured Alaska with the bike while towing a tent trailer, They traveld at a slow pace and at one point had to drop the passenger, go to the top of a long hill drop the trailer and come back for the passenger. My sister in law's first sidecar bike was a CB750A that she put a Sputnik sidecar on (bike is for sale) she ran this for years until we mounted the sidecar on a GL1000 when the CB750A started leaking oil around the head gasket. Our sidecars come with the bike specific mounts.

I would think that a sidecar and trailer would be a bit much for most bikes. I would think that the automatic would be pretty good because you have a low and a high range. Just one shift either up or down.
Thanks for all your info it is helpful.
