Just went through the motorcycle tire in 4,000 miles. Want to find a car tire that will fit the 160 x 3 inch Honda rear wheel. Or, would like to find a Dauntless wheel that takes the VW tire. Been running a VW tire on my Suzuki Cavalcade and Motorvation and get 15 - 20,000 miles with it.
hey eusta,..FYI, I run an '02 marauder 800/cf1 with a BFG radial TA....155/60/15 on it,.. 10,000 miles or so and still looks new, flat bottom is tricky when solo riding, but it is much more stable with the car,..do your research on line, pirelli runs a 16 inch, BFG 15 inch,...good luck
Car tires aren't all that bad, even on a regular 2 wheeled bike. I run an Eagle on my big Triumph Rocket just because it'a a tire eater even when rode sedately and the tires are almost 200 bucks each for the rear which averages about 7K. With all the different sizes available now, you should have very little trouble finding one to fit, but the actual fitment may be a problem. Most bike shops won't touch mounting a car tire on a bike rim. They all say 'for liability reasons' I say 'because you didn't buy a tire here and you want to make the profit plus the mounting'. Try Wal-Mart. They mounted mine and a few of my buddy's too. I did have to cut the carcass off the rim first. The Rocket rear rim is an odd design and normal tire machinies can't dismount the tire.
I have Bridgestone Battalax tires on my sidecar outfit and they seem to give excellent life.
