Can a 97 HD sidecar fit a 2003
I am getting a sidecar because my family is growing. I have a 2003 Police RoadKing and have found a 97 HD side car to match. I just don't know if the thing will match up being older or not?
i bolted up a 97 sidecar to my 02 electraglide no problem. with the road king you'll probably have to fabricate some mounts- but it can be done. not a bolt-on like the electraglide though.
Thanks for the help, I thought that would be the case.
I'm not sure about the rear mount on the 2003 frame but the rest of the mounts, the upper front and the lower front, will fit. Some of the earlier frames have three bolts for the rear mount and others have two. You need to match your frame with the proper mount.
The 1997 TLE sidcar was the last one to have a drum brake and the old style frame. They wlll work fine, however.
There are a number of other changes required to your bike. Depending upon which master cylinder design is used on your bike, you may need a brake relocation kit to clear the front lower mount. Also, the oil pressure sending unit requires a change of location with a short brass pipe nipple and a 90 degree brass fitting to clear that mount.
I suggest that you pick up a copy of the Harley sidecar manual for your bike. That would be 99485-02. That will tell you which parts are required.
Thank you so much you anserew question alot of people could not at the Harley shop.
