Brakes on my Rig..
I've been riding a 94 Ural Tourist for 5 years. Now I want a faster bike so I'm building a Harley sidecar rig. I'm using a swingarm frame for the bike and a modified Ural sidecar. I have Disc brakes on all three wheels. I think I might like to have all three brakes working from the same brake pedal. I can use a larger master cylinder (or would the stock harley master be large enough?) and proportioning valves to facilitate stopping in a straight line. Has anyone here ever seen such a setup? Is it feasible? Any foreseeable problems?
I have a 93 Harley Tour Glide with a 96 Harley TLE sidecar. The rear brake and sidecar brake run off the stock rear master cylinder and the brakes work well but pedal travel is definitely increased. I'm not sure how well three brakes would work off one master cylinder.
I didn't think the stock master had enough volume. Do you have any pulling problems when stopping?
It does pull a little to the right if I only use the rear brakes. I don't notice any pulling when I use both the front and rear brakes.
On Harley's when we need to run all the brakes off of one control due to physical limitations of the rider we will often do so by only running one of the disks on the front of the bike. A single disk will still lock up the front wheel it just will not do it over and over again with out time to cool down.

I have a 02 HD Ultra with a standard 06 HD sidecar. I like to have independent brakes as in a bad situation I like to be able to control the bike by using the brakes one at a time if need be. When I use just the rear brakes it pulls a little to the right but not bad not problem controlling it. From 44 years of riding I use both the front and rear brake at the same time for the most part.
I use to have a all original 1946u.
I HAVE A 97 FLSTC WITH 95 CAR
IT HAS A PROPORTING VALVE IN LINE WITH CAR BREAK
WORKS OF REAR BREAK SYSTEM OEM
CAN EASLY ADJUST FOR LOAD

I think the stock Harley master cylinder may be to small for the added brake. It has very little volume.
All Harley does to add the sidecar brake is remove the brake light pressure switch, put a tee in its place, and connect the switch and added brake line to the tee.
My 90 FLHTCU/TLE has disc brake on the bike and drum brake on the sidecar. When properly adjusted and bled, it does not pull in either direction under any amount of braking pressure.
YMMV
