Hello all, Im in process of mounting my 1998 HD ultra to a 1996 tle sidecar i recently bought. I have all the mounts, cables brake lines etc.. I Had to upgrade from 96 wiring harness and stereo parts to 98 stereo parts in the sidecar. The console between the two years is slightly different and i have all the new parts (ie. amp knobs, speakers) for the 98 console, but it seems to be a tight if not almost impossible fit. Does anyone know if HD changed the shape of the sidecar tub between these years ???? if not all the parts should fit.

Looking in my 2004 HD Parts book, I see that the P/N for the TLE/TLE Ultra body is 86831-63BDK. That tells us that the fiberglass bodies came out in 1963. The "B" tells us that there were two changes between 1963 and 2004. Interestingly, they show the same part number for both TLE and TLE Ultra even though the snaps and holes in the rim are in different places. The Ultra had handholds and a different windshield. The tonneau cover is also different due to the higher seatback in the Ultra and the handholds.
But to answer your question, I seriously doubt there were any changes made to the Body which would affect the console fit. The part number for the console is 60954-98 which tells me that there was a change or all new part in 1998. Therefore, if you have a 1998 console and stereo, it should fit.
