If you like curvy roads with incredible mountain views and no traffic, ride US 191 between Springerville and Clifton-Morenci. The Springerville-Eager area is about 6,000 feet in elevation whereas Clifton-Morenci is about 3,000 feet and there's a 9,000-foot pass between them.
You go through something like 400 curves (including roughly 10 miles of 10mph hairpins) in 125 miles. Motorcycling bliss is found in the White Mountains.
My wife Cheryl and I rode 191 in October of this year. It is a great road. It was quite fun on the sidecar rig. We rode from bottom to top and had lunch at Alpine.

May 2005. I rode the same route as Bob. After the first 45 miles heading north out of Clifton I had to stop the K1200GT due to arm pump! Great curves that I hope to ride again someday. Fantastic burger and nice people at the resturant in Alpine.
I was down that road in 1978 and I believe it was US-666 at that time.

We did 131 with Bob twice. The first time I tried to keep up and he waited. The second I didn't try and he didn't wait. It makes the Dragon's tail look like a walk in the park.
Route 66 ??? You will find sad reminders every time you pull off I40 all through NM and AZ The only part still marked as "66" is off at marker 139 and back on at Kingman. It is worth the side track. Harold in Kansas.
That is an awesome road!!! I remember doing it on two wheels a few times, there is a break in the middle with some straightaways...
Is that the one they call "Devil's Back Bone"? something like that?
