Can anyone tell me if there is an inspection / ID plate on a Escort to tell what year it was made? I purchased my rig used and the prior owner did not know the exact year. If it helps I have attached a few photos, but I don't think photos will help with the actual year.

I looked all over the frame & body but couldn't find anything that even said it was a Champion, other than the "Escort" chrome insignia.

I am in the same boat, bought a used Champion Escort, on a 91 Goldwing, the man I bought it from, has no idea of the year. Mine has a label on the front of the frame between the bike and sidecar, it says Champion Serial number 01481. The label has the corperate address and Champion logo, and dosn't look very durable. I want to contact Champion to see if they can tell me what year it is, haven't gotten around to it yet. Good luck with yours.

Mine has a label like Lloyd's. The serial no. is 01677. I was under the impression it was about a 1996 but I'm the 2nd owner. The trunk lid hinges are on the top and I noticed that some of them are on the bottom. Ralph

The hinges on mine are also on the bottom and there is no sticker on the frame. The sticker could have been rubbed off over the years. Jay at DMC sidecars said it was a early model, that the newer ones have the hinges at the top and a different brake caliper. I also notice that the newer models have more gusseting on the subframes. I am thinking of removing mine to add gusseting for strengthening. Sometime during the past one part of the front subframe has been re-welded and painted over. I would like to get it powder coated again. I assume you can powder coat over old powder coating? I can ask a shop about that.
