I just saw on Claude's Homepage a Beemer rig sunk in a river.

Who else sunk his rig?...

Summer 1987 in Harz mountains in Germany one of my best friends asked me to drive back throug the river. He lost control and went right into the deepest part of a pool...
Spritz- fart the engine stayed on until the spark plug sunk too. After a bath to push Jolly Roger out of the mountain river Brrr! (1 inch" That cold in plain summer!)
Third kick and we got a hot shower! Good to drive a 2 stroker!
Unlikely the radio-recorder said good night in this occasion, so I couldn't play any more Enio Ricone's "sing me the song of death" for hitch hickers.

2005 Guanacaste, Costa Rica, River Ostional (see turtle breading spot): (50m wide, strong current, little over knee deep) No truck wanted to stop for to hook on his back. When I entered into the river the sidecar swam up and the water pulled me into the deep. I just could turn right and hit the bank with the mufflers under water...Keep gas..., but the gravel was loose and tires and left foot sank into it....Raul help me out!.... I pushed on the bank the digging in bike and Raul pushed the floating sidecar up to the road entrance.
Only thing to do was to dismantle the rig (25min), push the sidecar over the 1m wide hanging bridge (15min), pass the bike and reassemble (20min).
Again I was lucky to drive 2 stroker. (only until 3 weeks later the ignition coil failed => now I have a breather hose in the deepest part of the alternator cavity => no trouble sice then with river passing)

In the evening we definetely had earned our good night beer and a dry bed.

I'd like to hear about your experiences in water!

Best regards

Friends,
are you too ashamed for to tell or only on the road?
Here many roads simply disapear under the water frequently.
The day I got washed away we had passed through some 10 creeks and 5 nice rivers, because there simply weren't bridges.
The 550 ha farm of some far away relatives is in the rainy season less then 20 hectars.
Together with the dogs they feed 4 aligators....just for to be sure the dogs will not disapear....
Regards from 10ΒΊN, 84ΒΊW.
