received the mounting kit from DMC, consist of what I think would be considered a subframe, and other brackets. There are a couple of minor issues befor I can properly mount sidecar, but I am sure Jay and I will straighten out easily. Did manage to get mounted temporarily, and I had forgotten how time consuming it can be to get everything right.
Things I need to take care of, once I get the mount issue sorted out, primarily, stiffen up the suspension! Wallows like an old Cadilac, don't remember my last bike like that, and need to see about getting longer lower mounts, not sure exactly what they are called. The pipes that slide into each other. The sidecar came off a Harley, so they may not have needed to be as long. Rewire it! Whoever had it befor me was even worse at cobbling than me. When cash flow permits, would be nice to get the steering kit, but once I get the toe and lean sorted out, I am sure steering will be better.
Get the rig painted, this winter, hopefully.
Now, my engine guard won't fit, and I have to figure out how to modify that, and the bracket for the saddlebag.
Still looking for small speakers in their own housing for the stereo, the specialty ones for bike handlebars are exspensive as all get out! Maybe in a truckstop store, they have everything.
Guess I shall also join USCA, was a member, once upon a time, and went to a major rally, got to meet Mr. Sidecar, Doug Bingham, and a bunch of other neat people. Was a rally to remember, I left early, so I could get to my sons graduation, ran over a bolt on the interstate, got a flat rear tire, flatbed tow service towed me to their shop, and of course nobody open on Sunday. Manage to patch tire just enough to get me the last couple hundred miles home, very slowly of course, and I missed my sons graduation, that was the worst part. Oh, yeah, lots of sidecar memories from the past, some good, and some downright scary. And now, I'm doing it all over again!
Sorry, I'm rambling.
