I am a newbie and have a 74 kaw 900z1 with a thompson cyclecar that is probably too light of a sidecar for my bike but seems to drive ok with the 75 lbs plate under the car-it came with the car-i seen on a chinese website of their army on parade with a line of sidecars in formation with the sidecars in the air--you could only do that in a straight line? I someday I could do that somewhat- I think I would feel more at ease driving a cycle-sidecar with that sort of skill

That is indeed trick riding, but it is a relatively easy trick. In real life, the one thing being proficient at flying the sidecar does for you is makes you more confident in your ability to ride through a fast right hand corner. There is more to riding sidecars than that. I suggest you take a sidecar class to learn more.

I recommend the S/TEP classes( but then I would-I teach them).

Adventure Sidecar classes are held in Hood River, Oregon May through October. You can check out my website at adventuresidecar.com for more info.

You can do the same program in Seattle at Evergereen Safety Council. The ESC website will also have a contacts for S/TEP classes in other parts of the country, but most will probably not have the 2008 class schedule ready yet.
