If any of you are interested, I’ll be guiding the GlobeRiders Silk Road Adventure this year, a 12,800 kilometer, 53 day adventure tour which start from Istanbul, Turkey on 01 MAY, and travels through Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan (can you say “Borat?”), across the Gobi Desert, terminating in Xian, China on 22 JUN.
Although the other 21 staff members and client riders will be on two-wheelers, I’ll be piloting Das UberHack, my BMW R1200GS/EZS Rally "L" rig, on which I already completed our World Tour (Japan, China-to-Germany) last year.
The tour is sold-out, so sorry, but you can’t join in this time. However, if you’re interested in taking a “virtual” tour with us, I will be publishing a Live!Journal in real-time, from the “road”. Twice weekly, I’ll send out an email newsletter which will contain a link. Clicking on this link will take you to our website and that week’s current Live!Journal Chapter. The Chapter will contain stories and pictures, and hopefully video from our riders and the tour. In addition, we have a GPS satellite transponder with us which will allow you to see our current position and the track-to-date updated every 30 minutes for the duration of the tour.
