My bike is a 1978 BMW R100S with Windjammer not factory sport fairing. I have got a Velorex 700 sidear with all the attachment brackets and pieces. It is a used rig and was last on a 1100 Honda of some sort. The 'General Information Section A' of the installation instructions says "note: for BMW models a special mounting bracket may be needed".
Is my bike model one that "needs" a special mount bracket? Or will I be able to mount the sidecar with the Attachment Kit hardware? I've read that the frame tubing on the R100s was made thicker and thus more durable than previous models.
I'd appreciate some experienced insight about this special bracket. Thanks. Jon in Mobile

Jon, yes, you will need the 'spcial' bracket...called a Subframe.
It goes under the engine to the footpag area, then up to just below the seat, and continues back a short ways . It bolts and clamps to your engine mount bolts and original frame , reinforcing it.
The 78 R100S needs this.
