SIDECAR GAMES
I have been told that Harry Waters had a notebook with a lot of sidecar games in it. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of it. I fall heir to putting on games at a few rallies. I would like to have some new games. Thank in advance.

If you like I can describe some that I have played in at various rallies.
Thanks a lot. I am going to be off the air for a few days. Be back on Mon. Appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks J/R.
Okay I'll begin here.
1. Drive by shooting --- A course is laid out with left and right turns and straightaways that are not long enough to get above 15 miles an hour. We had eight targets set up at various points along the course. The passenger was handed a paintball gun with 8 balls in it. The rig ran the course timed by a stopwatch. 5 seconds were subtracted for every target hit by a paintball. Lowest numerical score won.
2. This was at a Xmas themed rally. Grandma got run over by a reindeer. --- You need one stuffed grandma dummy, a bunch of old lightbulbs with a hook taped to each one. a bunch of plastic buckets half full of water ( to keep the wind from blowing them over). A tree sized about like an indoor Xmas tree. A blindfold.
The passenger is blindfolded at the start. When the stop watch says go, the rider ride to the bunch of buckets about 75 yards awa, some of which have a light bulb floating inside. pulling up to a bucket
the rider vocally tells the blindfolded passenger where to reach to get a bulb. A this time the passenger removes the blindfold and the rider puts it on. The passenger verbally gives instructions to the rider to get him to return the grandma and run over her then make a 90 degree turn and ride about 50 yards to the tree where the passenger hangs the ornament (bulb) on the tree, stopping the time.
Low time wins.
3. Blind navigation, can be done by sidecar rigs or solos. A stake is driven into the ground and a starting circle is drawn about 50 to 75 yards away.
bike starts in the circle with the driver wearing a blindfold with two marshmallows on the eyes under it. This prevents peeking. When the rider is ready and told to go, he rides to the stake and stops.
There is no time limit on this one, within reason. The rider may go as fast or slow as they want. When they stop, distance is measured from front axle to the stake. Shortest distance wins.
Note, I won this one with a distance of 8 inches.
4. Egg race --- A winding course is laid out. rope is strung between poles about 8 feet above the ground. passenger is handed a raw egg. Time starts as the rig begins to move.
every time the rig has to pass under a rope, the passenger must toss the egg over the rope and catch it. 5 seconds are deducted from final time for each successful egg toss and catch over a rope
5 seconds are added for each rope passed under without tossing the egg. Lowest time wins.
5. joust --- a line is drawn straight. each contestant must keep to their own side of the line. Each passenger is handed a water balloon.
The rigs pass sidecar to sidecar and the passengers try to hit the other with the thrown water balloon. No winners, just fun or a way to settle arguments.
6. Croquette -- posts to drive into the ground about 7 feet apart, maybe 6 feet. a snow saucer and rope are needed. Rider passenger in the rig, the Croquette ball is a person is a person riding the snow saucer as it is pulled behind the rig . The rig travels around the course towing the saucer on a 20 foot rope going between the stakes ( which are the wickets ). Both rig and saucer must pass through the wicket. When all wickets are cleared, if a wicket is missed the rig must go around until the clear the wicket, back to the starting line stops the clock. Low time and all wickets cleared wins.
This game may also be played by solo bikes towing a saucer and rider. Two classes may be needed.
7. A slalom race for sidecars Stakes in a straight line for rigs to slalom between out and back. For those who have a reverse gear the same course may be run in reverse.
Caution ! practice driving in reverse before attempting this or it can become dangerously comical as rigs flip upside down very easy in reverse.
Well these are a start but you are only limited by your imagination
Many thanks for the info. I have not been able to get on line for the past few days. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this.
By the way, when is the bridge or tunnel is going to be completed so we can come down and visit you?

Someone posted about using a RO-RO service from the West Coast, which was really very reasonable.
There once was a ro ro from the west coast, don't know why it 's gone.
They are currently politicking about an inter island ferry.

I participated in a "blind navigation" game at a rally that I thought was a lot of laughs. A slow (1st gear) course is laid out with a starting line and a finish line. You race against the clock. The driver is blindfolded and must navigate the course based on the instructions provided by the monkee. Normally there is a lot of screaming and shouting and cursing involved. Great fun! (Especially for the husband-wife teams!)
That is a crowd pleaser. Played at most rallies. Really gets interesting when monkey keeps screeming, turn this way or that way. Seems like some folks don't know right from left,me included. Got trophy one time for being most fun to watch.

When I and a friend did the blindfold game at the first Chelan rally, she told me she'd say "my way" or "your way" instead of left and right. The blindfold was very effective, I couldn't see a thing. But we were in a large grassy area and she kept saying "faster!" "faster!" so I'd kick it up a bit trusting her completely. As the awards were announced, they said no one was even a close second to us. It's the only race I ever won in my life. But all the credit went to Theresa as well as what ever the prize was... and she did it all while kneeling on Archie's bed in the sidecar. A fine, fun, memorable time.
