Many of you know my good friend Gust Jenson. Below is a post from another site regarding his efforts on behalf of sidecarists.

*****************************************
As some may know, I have been working with the National Motorcycle Museum
people http://www.nationalmcmuseum.org/ since mid February to both
establish a tribute to the 3rd Wheel and support a universal side car Museum site. Regrettably, personal circumstances, including a severed artery have delayed the process.

However, recent, productive communications with Jeff Carstensen, Director of the Museum, have resulted in the following:

1) A permanent sidecar exhibition will be established at the museum and
will be supported by donations and whatever additional funds the Museum may obtain.

2) A supportive donation fund in remembrance of the 3rd Wheel has been
established to which anyone may contribute. For those who contribute $20 to this fund I will send an original 3rd Wheel patch (see the following for a picture http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/3rdwheelhistory/)

Image hosting by Photobucket
and for a contribution of $25 will add a decal, until the supply runs out.

As some may know, the 3rd Wheel was one of the clubs that merged to form the present USCA and perhaps some of the original members can share some of their memories.
Once 3rd Wheel "mementos have been "sold out", my involvement with the Museum is ended, with the exception of paying admission to gawk at pretty machines.

3) For those individuals/organizations sincerely interested in preserving
the history of as well as promoting sidecars I might humbly suggest that
contributions would be welcomed by the Museum and these could be in
recognition of groups/organizations such as USCA, Hack'd various hack
installers and the like. For example, in addition to personal donations,
organizations such as Hack'd, USCA, Ron de Voo, Dauntless Motors and the
like could contribute cash, magazine subscriptions, photo histories and the like to further enhance and promote the weird off shoot of motorcycledom, known as "sidecars". Contributors of such donations would, of course, be appropriately recognized.

In summary, please, please contribute to the Museum, in tribute to the 3rd
Wheel so I can get rid of all patches and decals and get on with traveling. ;). Since we all know that the most truthful and honest people on the face of the earth are sidecarists, simply let me know that ye have made a contribution, the amount and your address. Materials will be in the mail within a day.

The supply IS LIMITED so, show your support of sidecars, a sidecar museum
exhibit and acquire 3rd Wheel mementoes, all before midnight tonight. 😉

Now to figure out what to do with several pounds of Rally Pins from various years. Any suggestions?

Gust

For Reference:

Hi Jeff: Just to insure good communication I'll recap my understanding of
our conversation.

I will seek donations to the Museum from "Friends of the 3rd Wheel". Checks
for such a donation will be made out to the National Motorcycle Museum with
a notation that it is for the 3rd Wheel account. During this process other
sidecar groups, organizations will be encouraged to make donations in their
name and receive appropriate recognition for their efforts.

All such donations will be for the purpose helping the Museum to develop and
maintain a permanent sidecar exhibit area. As you indicated, this may be in
the area where the "snow sled" is currently displayed, and may include
sidecar rigs, pictures, a display case for memorabilia, etc.

Finally, all 3rd Wheel memorabilia will be turned over to the Museum at the
Rally next Fall.

Sincerely, Gust

I can't swear that he has any patches or decals left, but a donation to set up a permanent sidecar exhibit is
