Rake and Lowering

I am looking art raked trees for my 01 Sportster custom. They have 3 and 5 degrees. I also considering lowering( back to what my bike used to be) 2.5 to 3 inches. If my "calculations" are correct lowering th whole rig while actually make the steering(slightly) harder because of trail. so I am thinking , go with the 5 degree rake.
Now a friend of mine has raked trees on his wide glide to stretch it out like a chopper I never did think that was a good idea but he has had it for years , and has replaced the neck bearings more than once.
Any who , any advice on the 5 degree for mine would be appreciated.
I would go with the 5 degree tree's as it will steer better. The tree's we offer ($550) are set up so that the fork tube does not stick out the top of the upper tree this way the forks sits lower and you do not loose as much ground clearence and if you want you can add a spacer to the top of the fork tube up inside of our tree's to loose even less ground clearence.

Thanks.. I had 3" lowered forks and shocks on my bike when I got the hack. I traded them with my wifes stock sportster when I put the rig together . I now see how easy it will be to lower the sidecar and I want my low rider look and feel back. Besides that the friend who bought the wifes Sporty last year doesn't like how it rolls into the corners so he is willing to trade me forks and shocks back.
