They have power seats at old folks homes that are left by the familys of parents that have gone to heaven. You could by one at a good price, then remove it from the chair, and install it under the hack seat. At least its worth looking into.

Hi Scott, Interesting idea! I'd NOT thought about putting one of those lifts UNDER the hack seat! As I think I mentioned, I have one of the non-powered (hydraulic) lifts but it put Luke too high because I had to just set in on the hack seat. I assume the powered ones are AC. Anyone care to offer what problems I'd face in converting to DC. Also, anyone have a rough guess/estimate of the dimensions of those seats? (But, I probably can find out a on net somewhere.)
Thanks all.
Ron

The power on the lift chair is DC outlet to AC converter to lift. You might check at a medical device outlet for paper work on the lifts, or just talk to the clerk at one. I dont know the story on Luke, but if he gualifies for free wheel chair, or other devices from some kind of insurance, you might be able to get a lift especially made for him. I know that some people do get that kind of help if they are on government assistance.

Most of the powered ones ar DC, with one of those little boxes at the outlet. Easy change.

Thanks, again, Scott. Luke has severe autism. He was our foster son until he turned 18 and, like everyone, was emancipated. He's 28 now and we're now his legal guardians. I appreciate the interesting idea.
