Is the reason for a new saddle bag latch is do to the right stock saddle bag top hitting the side car when you open it??? Does any one have a part number for this latch?
Thanks
exactly its so the top of the saddle bag does not smack the sidecar body
it comes with the "kit" but it can be ordered at the dealer and is sometimes on ebay
to
Thanks does any one have a part number or where I can locate it in the parts manual?
ok, does the original owner still have the bike it came off of?
what year is it?
if he still has the bike then all the bits you need are ON that bike
and all the bits he needs to use his bike are ON your bike
just swap parts - best to do in the same room
to
the saddle bag latch is 90670-93
latus has one on line for 95 bux
to
He does not have the bike any more. I can get the saddle bag latch for $76.
Thank you
Question when I put this sidecar on my 02 ultra with the factory mounts do I have to do away with my right passenger floor broad?
If nothing changes I will be driving 300 miles one way Monday to look at it and if everything works out will be bring it back. He is asking $3000 but I think I can get it for a little less.

The right side passenger floor board will be utilized, You will need to obtain the correct right rear mount depending upon the actual year of the bike that the unit was mounted on and what mounts are with it. $3,000 mis a good price. That's about what they go for used since the market will usually be slow for used sidecars.
Check the manual that you ordered to see what is required (or not) for the rollover switch. 2002 is a transitional year since the rollover switch came out in 2003 (P/N 8815-003) I'm writing this from another computer and I don't have my manual handy so I may not be exactly correct but there is information in there about the switch.
There is a list of ECM's in the manual that tell which ones can be used with the rollover switch. 2003 and later FL's can use the switch. Prior to, say, 2000, they didn't use anything. Then in that period of 2001, 2002, it was possible to toggle the ECM to "sidecar" (180 degree cutoff) using only the turn signals, much like entering the security code to unlock the TSSM without using your ignition key. The manual also has that procedure nicely outlined.
I say that they "can use the switch". The switch is not mandatory. HD didn't have one for close to 100 years so I guess they managed to get by. LOL.
By the way, Zanotti's has the saddlebag hinge unit (90670-93) for $61.78. I get all of my HD parts from them.
Black is a nice color. I hope you don't have to repaint it since that's a major undertaking.
Here's my rig. (2007 TLE on 2004 FLHTCUI)
I bought mine in the crate. It was really a lot of fun installing it. HD did a great job crating it, too. Not a scratch.
gnm109 nice rig! I am officially a sidecar owner and my sidecar is sitting in my garage after a 600 mile round trip today. I ended up paying $2,800 for it. I have a 02 Ultra and the sidecar is a 06 and according to all my parts manuals and sidecar service manuals use the same mounting brackets. Yes from what I have found out I need a roll over switch or if the chair gets air born it could kill the engine. Will double check before I get one.
Do you have a link for Zanotti's? Is this a HD dealer. I get most of my parts from Chicago HD and only problem with them is they are slow. All ways looking for other suppliers for HD part.
Yes my bike is Luxury Rich Red and as you can see the sidecar is pearl black but for now black goes with anything. I have a guy that said if I bring him the tub and the fender he would paint it for $600 including paint and supplies. If I want pin stripes it would be another $200. Being the bike has 80K on it and went up and down the Alaska highway has plenty of road scars so if I do paint the side car it will be down the road. I am looking for a right lower fairing for when running a sidecar but is not on top of the list right now.
Probably will be a while before I mount it as I want to do my last 5 states as a solo.
One other thing I have to clean out the brake system on the sidecar in 05 HD went to DOT4 and I am running DOT 5 in my bike. So being the sidecar is a 06 it will have DOT 4 and it will not mix with DOT5. I know what they say about DOT 5 but been running it in my Harley s since 1976 with out a problem.

Yes, Zanotti's is a Harley dealer. They are located in Butler, PA. I've used them for a long time. They have good prices. There is a lookup page for prices if you have the part number and also a place to check stock. If they don't have an item in stock, they can get it within three to four days.
$2,800 was a good price. My sidecar was new and had no brake fluid in it. My 2004 Ultra uses DOT 5 so I went with DOT 5 on the sidecar and have had no trouble in three years now. I don't like DOT 3/4 since it will destroy paint.
There's nothing wrong with running a different-colored sidecar. If I were faced with a repaint and the colors were in good contrast, I'd just go with it.
The only problem wiith the rollover switch is that it has to be toggled by the dealer using their Digital Technician (proprietary laptop) and they charged me 1/2 hour ($45.00). Before you buy one, check your ECM and see if you can't toggle without the Rollover switch. A 2002 might be able to. There's a section in the manual that addresses this matter. Look at the P/N on your ECM and compare to the list in the manual.
One thing I notice is that when you do an oil change, you will probably have to remove the two bolts holding the remote brake reservoir to lay it down out of the way. The oil filter won't come out otherwise. At least on my bike that's the way if is. The lower front mount is pretty close in there. I even had to temporarily remove my oil filter adapter to get the lower mount on.
Good luck. It looks good.
Thanks gnm109. Being I work on bikes I have many HD manuals. I not only ordered the service manual for the 06 sidecar but I all so ordered one for a 02 sidecar so I have all or most of my bases covered. For what I have in all the machines like boring bar, lath, valve grinder, seat grinder, Sunnen horizontal honing machine, precession instruments, all the special HD tools not even talking about my hand tools I could buy at least 3 new rigs LOL but I have been collecting for over 40 years.
Here is a larger picture is use as my avatar of a bike I built and rode as a daily rider for many years. Road it on 1,800 miles trips as well. Been in 14 shows won 22 awards been in 3 magazines and one news paper. It was never a trailer queen and is only one of many old bikes I built for others and my self over the years. Built it out of pieces.
