Hello all,
Been riding and working on motorcycles for over 40 years none stop. I have several friends that have sidecars one of them president of the Georgia Sidecar Club. I have a 2002 Ultra Classic I bough new in 2001. In the first 5 years I had it I put over 70K on it and all but 6 states. I have ridden from Macon, GA to Alaska and back. In the past 4 years do to things beyond my control I have only logged about 10K. I am working on changing this.

I have located a 2006 Harley standard sidecar in black pearl, with luggage rack, step, windshield, cover and all but one mount with stock damper. The sidecar has been use very little. I am waiting on pictures. Is $3000 in the ball part if in very good condition? I am guessing the 2006 mounts for the most part should work with my 2002 as the major changes on Harley touring bikes was made in 2007. From what little information and books I have I will have to up date the rear brake reservoir and get a T fitting to install the sidecar brake. I have a 02 parts manual and using this as a guide. The person that has it bought the sidecar new and hopping he has the owner’s manual if not I will buy on. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

if you have all the brake parts then all you need is the oil sender 90, the roll over switch, the saddle bag latch & the clutch cable.

if thats the case then 3k is a good deal

if you are going to run the sidecar 100% of the time you will really WANT a raked trike tree, hd trike tree, liberty tree etc. otherwise you will get sore wrists and shoulders from the steering effort.

its not "necessary" to have a raked tree & you can adjust it to ride nice on a particular road - but i found that when i went to run in the left lane of a 4 lane it really and truly sucked - put on the raked tree and all that went away. i got my wrists damaged from chain saws when i was in my 20's plus lots of miles on my 77.. and the wrist pain was just excruciating after 300 miles without a raked tree - with, i can ride all day with no issues of any kind.

later

Thanks, Good chance I will catch 5 of my last 6 states before I install it. For obvious reasons I will never be able to drive to the 6th as there is not a bridge to Hawaii.

Do you know the part number for the triple trees for a 2002 Ultra? What is a roll over switch.
Thanks

the roll over switch goes behind the battery and is hooked to the turn signal module. once its installed you take it to the dealer and they set it for sidecar - what it does is prevent the engine from shutting down unless its on its top. the original switch can shut off the engine when the bike is on its side.. if you make a hard right turn and "fly the chair" the ecm can freak out and shut down

as for the trees - liberty makes a kit, i like it a lot

but the hd trike trees are cheaper - but you need different sliders - some folks have gotten sliders from folks who put chrome sliders on a triglide.

the tubes and springs etc are supposedly the same. so depending on what parts you can find cheap either the liberty complete kit or the hd parts will do the job.

ive been reading that its the sliders not the tubes that are different

the liberty kit contains spacers to do the same job
