New to forum
Hi. I'am trying to find out alot about sidcars. Been all over the net. I like reading about the WW2 German bmws and zundapps. Besides the ural, is there a modern version of a bike with a driven sidecar wheel? I looked at the Dauntless web page and saw some bmw 1150's with a ural sidecar. But not powered. I currently own a bmw k12oolt, But am intrested in learning about sidecars. I welcome any advice. I am new to this forum so I hope this is not too stupid a quistion.
First, Welcome to the forums. I am fairly new also, and the people here are very helpful and friendly.
Second, There is no such thing as stupid or silly questions. I asked hundreds before I got a sidecar, and even more questions while setting it up.
Third, Practice, Practice, Practice. I have found that riding a hacked rig is 100% different than a solo bike. No less fun, Just totally different. It is definitely apples and oranges. I certainly do like all the stares I get when I'm out and about.
The guys from Dauntless are very helpful on here, I have used alot of advice from them, and Bob Wark from www.warkshop.com was very helpful when I installed my first side car (I am currently working on a 71 Honda CB750 Rebuild with sidecar).
Good Luck and God Bless,

T&T, you should add SOHC4 to the list of letters under your name if you have a 750. The amount of knowledge and numbe of resources these folks have will blow your mind.
TV, as far as I know, the only commercially availabe 2WD rigs are old Beemer clones- Ural, Dnepr, and a Chinese rig called something like Chiang Jhang (sp?). I met a guy around San Francisco who put a car engine in the back of his sidecar for two wheeled drive. Very professinal job. Trouble was one day when a Soviet spy plane shot at it thinking it was a jet flying too low to avoid radar.
Would recommend you stay away fron the Chinese unit. Ural is getting better all the time, and several people get Dneprs and put Beemer running gear in them to make them a little more reliable. You'd have to be REALLY rich and have a good machine shop to ride a WWII era German bike on anything but a parade.
2WD is basically a novelty unless you live in deep woods or something like that (my personal opinion). Asking specific questins will get lots of opinions/advice. Many people are away right now at a big SC convention.
We can do the new BMW R1200GS as a two wheel drive. We also have a sidecar for the K1200LT that has a sidecar wheel that steers.

Thank you Uncle Ernie,TT and Jay. I see what you mean by the ww2 bikes. I saw one for 30 thou and another for 45,000. I am neather rich and my shop skills suck. Jay, Can you engage and disengage the two wheel drive? I'am just researching now, But when I pay off the beemer, I think I'll go with a sidecar bike. Thanks again.
The bike is single wheel drive until you go off road then you lock it into two wheel drive.
