Hi everyone, I am wanting to get back into sidecars again. I only have experience with two different sidecars back in the mid 70's, a Ural attached to two different Moto Guzzi's and a Vetter Terraplane attached to a Kaw 1300. I am looking for a Champion Escort to either attach to my 2002 GL1800, or a complete rig already setup. The reason for the Escort is the way the top opens up making for easy entry & exit. My wife has two bad ankles.
I do have a question since I am not stuck on attaching a Escort to a Honda only. If starting from scratch, is there a particular bike that has a better frame & power for attaching a sidecar to. I know there is a lot of stress is placed on the bike's frame. I know my GL1800 has the power for it.

Sorry about the blank reply, hit enter too quick. Anyway, I was talking with an owner at Americade a couple of weeks ago who mentioned that one of the options on the new Hannigan Astro was actually a seat lift that raises and turns the seat to enable easier movement to and from the car. I have an Hannigan myself on a goldwing 1500 and absolutely love the rig. You might want to check them out.
