new driver
Will be getting a rig for my Honda Helix from Texas Sidecar next month. Am glad to find this forum as I will need to learn a lot. I've ridden all my life but this will be a first.
Anybody know of classes in the Clearwater Florida area? If not My wife works at a library and is searching for books. Plus I live in a subdivision and can practice. Then there are parking lots near by I can "graduate" to.
That's all for now.
Congratulations Tony. Right here at sidecar.com you will find three titles in PDF format that you can read and/or download. From www.sidecar.com, click on "Links and Books" then click on "Books and Articles." Two of these books are from Hal Kendall, USCA #2 and the third is translated from German.
If you join the USCA, Hal will send you a CD of his books, if you like.
There is also "Driving A Sidecar Outfit" also known as "The Yellow Book." This is a product of the Sidecar Safety Program which is affiliated with the USCA. You can buy that from Whitehorse Press online. Here is the link:

I'm sure some of the Florida folks will pop up, but you've got the right idea - practice, practice, practice - and keep the speeds down!
Thanks I'll check those out.
Got word from Texa sidecar Wednesday that they survived the storm and my or is on track. Should be a couple of weeks. Been reading and researching. Looking for lights. Got a Tap a Light from Two Wheel touring that will make wiring the lights much easier.
This is almost like waiting for Christmas.

Hmm There are a nubmer of us new people here from Fla. I am just down the road from you in Largo. I have just started to looking.
Try looking up John Langley of the Florida Sidecar Club. He is in Venice. (941) 497-0493.
Just checked in, been flying.
Hopefully the rig will be sent this week. Then hopefully it will arrive before we leave on the 28th. So one way or the other I'll be driving in November.
Got the paint and some of the lights. Painting will take the most time. Going to see if I can use a friends paint booth to do the body.
