Motorcycle cannon ball sidecar
I have been following this event from the start and also had hopes to get down to Ktty Hawk in North Carolina to see them off but it wasn't meant to be anyway there is only 1 sidecar rig entered in the event it is a 1914 Excelsior/Goulding rig below is a clip from youtube of him entering into Concord NC for the first stop of the event. Gary Hanes of the sidecar magic shop is also involved in this with his bmw/special design motorcycle recovery rig there is also 2 HD Knucklehead/flatbed recovery rigs along with a early shovelhead HD shop pick up and delivery rig from one of the sponsors in California
For more info on this go to www.motorcyclecannonball.com

was in Concord NC sat. didn't see the sidecar rig.
Dave,
The second half that they are talking about below is when they were is going to Concord NC
Below is a portion of what was written up looks like he picked up a nail in his rear tire before he got to Concord there were a fair amount of break downs going over some of the mountains to get there.

Yesterday, many bikes suffered serious problems in the rain that hit during the second half of the long, 225-mile route. Dave Kafton (1912 Harley single), Dave Thompson (1914 Indian) and Jim Dennie (1915 Militaire) all suffered problems in the final 50 miles of the route that knocked them out of maximum points, and numerous other riders limped in with bikes that weren't running in peak condition. Also failing to score maximum points was Buddy Stubbs, who suffered a flat tire when he picked up a nail in the rear tire of his 1915 Excelsior Twin sidecar rig, the only three-wheeler in the competition.
