DOL is putting together a media opportunity on May 9th in Seattle. This will be a morning news show thing to remind everybody to take care, get trained and endorsed (we already have 10 fatals this year).
The idea is to set some training execises and have some media types try it on training bikes as well have others run the exercises for the camera. I imagine the reporters will want to talk to folks.
Any takers?
Tomorrow at the training site on Magnuson Park, from 5am to noon an "event" has been set up for the tv, radio and print news folks to come by and work on "getting a story".
Currently KOMO 4 will be there to go live at 5am during their morning news show. We should get 4 or 5 interviews in the two hour period. KING, KIRO & KONG have expressed interest but not committed to anything live yet.
I would like to have some riders there to a) give'm some movement to record/shoot b) have some different faces to put on camera (I'm purty but you can get tired of a good thing).
The basic messages are 1) Motorists look out for us. There is more of as the weather improves and as gas prices go up 2) Dust off the bikes and check them out (tire pressure, cables, hoses...) before hitting the streets 3) get some refresher training (a track school, state course, club training or even getting with friends in a parking lot and working on braking, swerving and cornering) before hitting the streets.
